Son culturas... aquí odian a las ratas y yo no las venero, pero las respeto como a cualquier ser vivo...

Karni Mata es un templo de 600 años de antigüedad templo hindú en Deshnoke, Rajasthan, India. Se cree que es la encarnación de la diosa hindú Durga. La peculiaridad de este templo es que miles de ratas se veneraban aquí. El templo, en su forma actual se terminó a principios del siglo XX.

Las ratas son consideradas sagradas, debido a la creencia de que las almas de los seguidores de Karni Mata están reencarnadas en ellas y, por tanto, deben ser atendidas como huéspedes del templo.

A lo largo del año los peregrinos desde cualquier parte vienen a rendir homenaje a los religiosos de Karni Mata. Toda una cultura respetable pero que produce a lo largo del año infinidad de infecciones a sus visitantes, algo parecido sucede en el Sagrado río Gánges.
