El Monte Everest es la montaña másalta de la Tierra, con 8.850[1] msnm. Está localizada en el Himalaya,en el continente asiático, y marca la frontera entre Nepal y China. EnNepal es llamado Sagarmatha (la frente del cielo) y en ChinaChomolungma o Qomolangma Feng (madre del universo). La montaña fuenombrada Everest en honor de Sir George Everest, británico, topógrafogeneral de la India, en 1865.
