(Deep Throat, 1972) es probablemente la pelicula porno más popular de la historia del cine, en su momento un autentico hito. En ella se expone de manera chusca (incluso absurda) la condición de una chica (Linda Lovelace) que se descubre anorgásmica. ¿La razón? Pues que el clítoris lo tiene localizado en lo más profundo de su garganta...

La película comienza con una larga escena de más de 4 minutos con Linda conduciendo un automóvil hasta llegar a su casa, donde encuentra a Helen (Dolly Sharp), su mejor amiga, teniendo sexo en la cocina. Digamos que se trata de un día normal en la vida de estas dos mujeres. Posteriormente ambas charlan sobre el "problema" de Linda y encuentran lo que parece la solución ideal: organizar una pequeña orgifiesta con ayuda de una docena de amigos que colaboran desinteresadamente para ayudar a la desesperada mujer en su búsqueda de campanas, cohetes y explosiones fulminantes en el cielo, que acompañarán el tan esperado clímax. Aprovechando el viaje, los muchachos también le dan una repasada a Helen, faltaría más.


Después de experimentar esta "destapadísima" manera de socializar sexualmente y encontrar la felicidad, Linda aún no está satisfecha, por lo que su amiga le recomienda visitar al Doctor Young (Harry Reems), un psiquiatra erotómano que, ayudado de su ninfomaníaca y rubia enfermera (Carol Connors), revisan y atienden los casos más extraños en materia sexual, aunque claro, ellos no dejan pasar la menor oportunidad para dar rienda suelta a su lujuria...

El propio Dr. Young al ayudar a descubrir a Linda su punto G bucofaríngeo, comienza también a "relacionarse" con ella, con lo que Linda resulta doblemente beneficiada.... En fin, como dirían en la tele, son cosas de la vida.


La perspectiva abstracta (más bien absurda) de la historia y las sobreactuaciones hacen de ésta película todo un icono fílmico de su género, el ahora ya consolidado porno, pero que en aquel momento sólo era una especie de experimentalismo que permitía incluso una aproximación artística, como en ciertas películas que Andy Warhol hacía por esos mismos años.

El rodaje de Garganta Profunda tuvo una duración de tan sólo dos semanas, y la película se estrenó en el New York Mature World en 1972. Se sabe que con sólo 6 meses de exhibición recaudó más de 600 mil dólares. También se calcula que desde su estreno hasta la fecha el filme a recaudado más de 600 millones de dólares en ganancias contra los 25.000 dólares invertidos, de los cuales, apenas 1.200 fueron el salario de Linda por su "trabajo".

Garganta Profunda vino a transformar radicalmente el cine para adultos, conocido posteriormente como Porno o XXX, siendo incluso aclamado por la crítica más aguda y mordaz del momento, llegando a proyectarse (fuera de concurso) nada menos que en el festivalísimo de Cannes en el año 1974.
