Ambientada despues de la Apocalipsis, en el ano 2018, Terminator Salvation esta protagonizada por Christian Bale, quien interpreta a John Connor, el hombre destinado a liderar la resistencia humana frente a Skynet y a su ejercito de Terminators. Pero el futuro para el que Connor ha sido preparado y en el que cree es alterado en parte por la aparicion de Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), un extranjero que tiene como ultimo recuerdo el haber estado en el corredor de la muerte. Connor tiene que decidir si Marcus ha sido enviado desde el futuro o rescatado del pasado. Al mismo tiempo que Skynet prepara su ataque final, Connor y Marcus se embarcan en una odisea que los lleva al centro de operaciones de Skynet, donde descubren el terrible secreto que se esconde detras de la posible aniquilacion de la raza humana.
