La historia de Gintama nos sitúa en un Japón sometido por unas criaturas alienígenas conocidas como Amantos. Gracias a estos el país goza de avances tecnológicos desmedidos, pero a la vez la especie humana ha sido desprendida de la autoridad de velar sobre su propio planeta. Para evitar revuelas bélicas se ha prohibido por completo el uso y porte de espadas en cualquier circunstancia por parte de los terrícolas, acabando de esta manera con la milenaria tradición del bushido. Aun así en esta nueva era hay personas que se mantienen fieles a sus creencias y convicciones antañas como es el caso de el protagonista, Gintoki, quien tras luchar en el pasado en las guerras independentistas contra el control de los amantos que culmino con una aplastante derrota para la especie humana, decidió seguir viviendo en esta nueva era despreocupadamente y sin guardar rencores contra los vencedores del conflicto.

Gin junto con otros dos igualmente estrambóticos personajes crean una tienda conocida como la Yorozuya, en donde se dedican a realizar cualquier tipo de trabajo que se les presente, pero al final rara vez logran obtener algo de dinero decente y tienen problemas incluso para pagar el alquiler del piso. Con el tiempo se introducirán en la historia una gran cantidad de personajes emblemáticos, tan o mas extraños que los propios protagonistas. Dentro de este lote destacan la agresiva idol Otsu-chan, Katsura, el terrorista amigo de la infancia de Gin, la shinobi masoquista Sa-chan, los Shinsen Gumi, que son supuestamente el cuerpo policial de la ciudad pero que en realidad causan mas destrozos de los que solucionan y gozan de una pésima popularidad entre los ciudadanos, entre muchos mas.

Gintama, de Hideaki Sorachi, editado por Glénat, encabeza la lista de votaciones de los usuarios del portal japonés Oricon como la serie que más risas les provoca, seguido de One Piece. Gintama goza actualmente de una gran popularidad entre los lectores nipones y con más de dos decenas de tomos, que suelen colarse en los primeros puestos de las listas de ventas, continúa editándose en la Shonen Jump, donde ya supera los 200 episodios. El anime ha sido renovado por un año más.

Argumento:

Bueno Gente aqui estan los ultimos capitulos del manga por lo visto el anime alcanzo al manga y en vez de estar sacando malos rellernos como bleach suspendieron la serie hasta tener mas material. con esto queda la Pelicula y el manga continua para hacernos reir con las ocurrencias del Yorouza Gin-Chan, El Shinsengumi, y los Revolcionarios de Katsura. YORINUKI GINTAMA

Yorinuki Gintama es el Re - Run de Gintama, es muy normal que hagan esto con series de exito como lo Hicieron con Naruto (Naruto Shounen Hen), incluso estos son sus nuevos Opening y Ending que se Basan en la saga de Benizakura y la niñes de Gintoki, Katsura Kotaru, Hijikata y Takatsugi (Villano Principal). Katsura Kotaro

Katsura Kotarou, personaje de Gintama cuyo papel es el de un Terrorista cuyo fin es devolver el orden de los samurais y expulsar a los amanto (extraterrestres que domniron la tierra).
Zura (como lo llama Gintoki) siempre va acompañado de un extraño Pato Gigante cuyo nombre es Elizabeth el cual lo acompaña en toda la historia aunque tiene muchos misterios sobretodo porque en su boca siempre apaerecen unos ojos.
Katusa es un amigo de la infancia de Gintoki y takasugi ademas fueron compañeros de guerra en la revolucion en contra de los amanto allí fue donde muestran el refran mas conocido de la serie "SI TIENES TANTA IMAGINACION DE MORIR COMO UN HEROE, PORQUE NO INTENTAS VIVIR BELLAMENTE HASTA EL FINAL" palabras que siempre recuerda.

La frase mas graciosa de Katusara es "Zura Janai......Katsura da!! ( No es Zura.....es Katsura), aunque este disfrazado siempre revela su identidad debido a esta frase.
