Un lesión en la rodilla impidió a Lauren buscar su boleto a los Juegos Olímpicos de Beijing 2008 en heptatlón. Otra lesión provocó que tampoco peleara por una visa para Londres 2012. En ambos casos el problema fue que se aplicaba al máximo para lograr resultados.
Ahora que brinda asesoría en fitness deja claro que el descanso es clave en la recuperación después de ejercitarse. Además, el tomarse la vida con más calma le ha permitido incursionar con el pie derecho en el modelaje, donde su figura atlética es ideal para lucir ropa deportiva, pero también se ve despampanante en traje de baño
