DIRTY SOUTH

Dirty South es un estilo de rap que irrumpió en la segunda mitad de 1990 en ciudades del sur de Estados Unidos como Memphis, New Orleans, Charleston, Atlanta, Miami, Saint Louis y Houston. El Dirty South desciende del southern rap: inspirado también en the Chronic de Dr. Dre y en 2 Live Crew (posiblemente el primer grupo de southern rap). Actualmente, el triángulo formado por Nueva Orleans, Atlanta y Saint Louis se ha convertido en la nueva meca del gangsta rap en Estados Unidos.

El Dirty South moderno está caracterizado por una música llena de vitalidad, ritmos y sonidos de club y letras que generalmente tratan sobre joyería (suele ser hortera según los críticos), automóviles lujosos, mujeres y, en ocasiones, gangsta. Una rama del Dirty South es el Crunk, que se popularizó a partir de 1994 por los raperos Lil' Jon (siendo éste pionero) y White Dawg. El sonido se caracteriza por un bajo muy pesado con líricas también pesadas con tiempo rápido.

Aunque somos pocos los que nos gusta este estilo...cada que pueda montare un cd o un mixtape...
