Adam STYKA (Polish,1890-1959) fils du peintre d'histoire Jan Styka, et le frère du portraitiste Tadé. Adam étudie à Paris avant d'entreprendre des voyages en Algérie et en Tunisie. Après la Première Guerre mondiale, pendant laquelle il s'est engagé dans laLégion étrangère, il visite le Maroc, puis l'Egypte et le Soudan anglo-égyptien. Styka retourne souvent en Afrique du Nord. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il émigre aux Etats-Unis, où il est captivé par les cow-boys d'Arizona; puis il s'installe à New York et se tourne vers la peinture religieuse. Il expose dans presque toutes les capitales européennes.
