Playing for Change es un proyecto musical multimedia (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multimedia) y también una fundación, ambos creados por iniciativa de Mark Johnson (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Johnson) con el objectivo de reunir, grabar y filmar músicos de diferentes culturas.

En marzo del 2005, el ingeniero de sonido y productor estadounidense (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estadounidense) Mark Johnson filmó y grabó al guitarrista y cantante estadounidense Roger Ridley (http://es.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Roger_Ridley&action=edit&redlink=1) en las calles de Santa Mónica (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_M%C3%B3nica), California (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/California) cantando la canción Stand By Me (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stand_By_Me). Fue entonces cuando decidió añadir otros músicos a esta misma canción: viajó a Barcelona (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barcelona), donde grabó, entre otros, a Clarence Bekker (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarence_Bekker), y luego a Sudáfrica (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sud%C3%A1frica), a la India (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/India), a Nepal (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepal), a Oriente (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oriente) Próximo y a Irlanda (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irlanda), donde añadiría a muchos otros intérpretes tanto a la grabación de la misma canción como a la grabación de otras canciones. Hacia mayo de 2011, el vídeo de Stand By Me (http://es.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Stand_by_me_(chanson)&action=edit&redlink=1) [1] (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playing_for_Change#cite_note-ref_duplicada_1-0) ha sido visto más de 31 millones de veces en Internet.
