N.W.A (Niggas with attitude) era un grupo de rap de los años 80, y muy reconocido por ser de los primeros en cantar el Gangsta Rap, un modo de rapear mas agresivo y con temas que hablan de la vida callejera, drogas, sexo, etc...

el grupo estaba conformado por Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren y Eazy-E, despues se unieron The D.O.C. y otros mas, en 1991 se desintegro.

Dr. Dre, es rapero y uno de los más reconocidos productores musicales estadounidenses. Nació en Compton, Los Angeles, el 18 de febrero de 1965.

Dre es conocido por sus colaboraciones con artistas de la costa oeste, como Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur o Warren G, además de por haber formado el grupo pionero del gangsta rap, los míticos N.W.A.. Junto a Suge Knight fundó la exitosa Death Row Records, además de Aftermath Entertainment, un sello distribuido por Interscope Records, esta vez en solitario. Precisamente al frente de esta discográfica firmó a artistas del caché de Eminem o 50 Cent, y de manera más reciente a Busta Rhymes, The Game, Eve o Stat Quo.

The Chronic es el primer álbum de Dr. Dre, de 1992, nombrado como uno de los mejores álbumes de hip hop de todos los tiempos, y siendo uno de los pioneros del género G-Funk.

Dre hizo este album luego de salir de su grupo N.W.A. en 1992 por la discucion que tubo con Eazy-E, productor y lider del grupo, dre, al darse cuenta de que estaba siendo explotado por E, decide salir del grupo a esto conlleva una enemistad con Eazy-E y de inmediato con su amigo Ice Cube. Luego de salir de N.W.A. y de Ruthless Reords, casa productora de Eazy-E, Dre conocio a Suge Knight y funda Death Row, la casa productora en la que crea su primer album: The Chronic, con colaboraciones de The D.O.C., Kurupt, y presentando a los nuevos raperos como Snoop Dogg, RBX, Jewell entre otros.

En 1995 Dre decide dejar Death Row porque ya quiere hacer algo nuevo, dejar el gangsta rap, y lo logro, creando el G-Funk, luego de salir de Death Row, funda su nueva casa de produccion (ahora solo) y le llama The Aftermath, y saca un album para dar a conocer a los nuevos rostros del Hip-Hop.
